Vincent F. Dolan's Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Vincent F. Dolan on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. He was the loving son of the late Francis and Dorothy (Watson) Dolan.
Born and raised in Methuen, graduated from Central Catholic High School, class of 1965 and was a graduate of both Northern Essex Community College and University of Louisiana Monroe. Vinnie was employed by Greater Lawrence Community Action Council in Lawrence, MA, as an Administrator for 35 years. After his retirement from GLCAC, he volunteered for the North Andover Meals on Wheels program for the past 9 years. Vinnie was a longstanding member of the Knights of Columbus in Methuen.
His love for music started at a young age. Vinnie taught himself to play guitar at age 14. Also in high school, his band the "Primitives" won the battle of the bands and was awarded the privilege of opening for the Barbarians, a well-known band at the time. During his time in Louisiana he played in the band "Prism" until he returned to Massachusetts where he was a founding member of the band Harvest and went on to play with several other bands in the Merrimack Valley, including: Noble Cause, Acoustic Curve, Too Many Drivers, Bits & Pieces, Never Easy, Molly Harper and most recently Time Tunnel Band.
Vinnie enjoyed playing music, collecting records, guitars and old classic cars, and spending as much time as possible with family and friends. Vinnie will be remembered as one of the good guys - a humble family man, a very kind man, never forgetful of his roots. He enjoyed living a simple life, but anyone who sat in his presence would tell you that there was always a life lesson to be learned. It is through those lessons and tremendous love that Vinnie's memory will live on in those who had the privilege of knowing him. His quick wit and jovial character will be greatly missed.
He leaves behind his soulmate of 52 years and love of his life, Colleen (Schrumpf) Dolan of Methuen; cherished daughter, Allison Dolan of New Orleans; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, who loved him dearly. Vinnie was a beautiful soul with a very kind heart and he will live in our hearts forever.
At the request of the family, funeral arrangements will be private. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make contributions to the American Heart Association via www.heart.org or a charity of one's choice.
