Sarah Jane Brown's Obituary
Sarah Jane (Barrett) Brown, 69 of Methuen, passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Boston Medical Center. She was the beloved wife of Robert D. Brown, to whom she was married for 47 years.
Born in Stoneham, Massachusetts on June 25, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Barbara (MacMillan) Barrett. She was a graduate of Stoneham High School, class of 1967. Sarah was a caring and giving person. For 20 years she operated an in-home daycare before working as a caregiver at Fidelity House in Lawrence until her retirement in 2015. In her free time, Sarah loved to read, knit, quilt and write poetry. She made countless quilts, hats, gloves, sweaters and scarves for her friends and family and donated many more to Community Teamwork in Lowell, and the Methuen WIC Program. Sarah enjoyed spending time among nature and was especially fond of her backyard garden. She spent many summers camping in the White Mountains of New Hampshire with family. She was a longstanding and devoted member of the Jehovah Witnesses congregation in Methuen. She will be remembered by all who knew her for her kind-heartedness and generosity.
Sarah will be deeply missed by her husband, Robert; their 5 children and 9 grandchildren who she greatly cherished: Christian Brown, his wife Melissa, and their daughter Willow of Plymouth, NH; Rebecca Phair, her son Kyler and daughter Evelyn of Salisbury, MA; Emily Pearson, her husband Ryan, and their daughters Riley and Sarah of Derry, NH; Elissa Tombarello, her husband Joseph and their sons Evan and Alex of Derry, NH; Samantha LeGendre, her husband Danny, their daughter Emma and son Adam of Hampstead, NH; her brothers, Martin Barrett and his wife, Carla Gerstein of Marshfield, MA and David MacMillan; her nephew, Gregory; and nieces, Melissa, Alison, Shana, and Sara. She is predeceased by her brother, Bruce Barrett.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Sarah’s life by gathering for her calling hours on Friday, February 1, 2019 from 3 - 6 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Her memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
