Rita M. Ducheneau's Obituary
Rita M. (Nolet) Ducheneau, 101 of Lawrence, died Thursday, January 28, 2021. She was the beloved wife of the late Henry Ducheneau.
Born in Lawrence on December 5, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Irenee and Delia Nolet. Rita graduated from St. Anne’s School in Lawrence and later from Lawrence High School. She worked as a sample stitcher at Ludington Footwear for many years and then as an X-ray technician at Raytheon Co. for 11 years until her retirement. She was also an auxiliary policewoman in Lawrence for 4 years. Rita was a communicant at St. Theresa’s Church in Methuen. In her free time, she enjoyed quilting, rug braiding, traveling, and spending time at the Methuen Senior Center and more recently, with fellow residents and staff at Marguerite’s House in Lawrence.
Rita will be deeply missed by her 2 daughters, Shirley A. Cartwright and her husband, Noel, and Jeanne D. Duchesneau; 4 grandchildren, Scott Jones and his wife, Theresa, Daniel Jones and his wife, Jennifer, Paul Cartwright and his wife, Laurie, and Robyn Cartwright; 4 great grandchildren, Riley Cartwright, Tess Cartwright, Kaitlyn Jones, and Audrey Rose Jones; and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sister, Lorraine Dubois and her 6 brothers, Arthur, Hervey, Raymond, Edward, Ernest, and Leo.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Rita’s life by gathering for her calling hours at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen on Saturday, February 6, 2021 from 9 – 10:30 AM. Her Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Our Lady of Good Counsel/St. Theresa Church, 22 Plymouth Street, Methuen on Saturday at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen. Due to COVID-19 guidelines, face masks will be required at the funeral home and the church, and social distancing must be followed. If you have a health or other underlying concern, please do not attend. Rita’s family will understand and respect your decision.
