Paul L. DeGagne's Obituary
Paul L. DeGagne, 90, of Methuen passed away on May 26, 2019 at the Henry C. Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre surrounded by his beloved family. Born in Methuen on September 1, 1928 to the late Odilon and Jeannette (Gaumond) DeGagne, he graduated from Central Catholic High School with the Class of 1946. After high school, Paul answered the call to service like so many of his generation, and honorably served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. Believing in the value of an education, Paul attended Boston College receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree and graduating with the Class of 1966. He worked as an engineer for Raytheon for 32 years until his retirement.
A lifelong devout Catholic who was a communicant of Our Lady of Good Counsel / St. Theresa’s Church, Paul was very involved with the church. He was part of parish life in many ways including as a Eucharistic minister, President of the Holy Name Society, lector and funeral service altar server. Paul enjoyed spending weekends at the cottage at Lake Winnisquam with his family. He also enjoyed traveling, golfing, reading, going for walks and attending Boston College Eagles football games with his brother-in-law.
Paul is survived by his two children; his daughter, Jeanne DiFruscia and her husband Jerry of Methuen, and his son, David DeGagne and his wife Lynn of Nashua, NH. He is also survived by his sister Edith Miner and her husband Don of Framingham, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved bride, Genevieve A. (Baltuskonis) DeGagne, who died on March 27, 2019, and with whom he shared 60 years of marriage.
Visitation for Paul will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 from 9 – 10:30 AM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Friends and family are cordially invited to attend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Good Counsel / St. Theresa’s Church, 22 Plymouth Street, Methuen on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at 11 AM. Interment to follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, 29 Barker Street, Lawrence. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Henry C. Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre Business Office, 10 Ingalls Court, Methuen, MA 01844.
