Ida Boodakian's Obituary
Ida Malootian Boodakian, 97 of Wakefield, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 13, 2022. She was a resident of Brightview Assisted Living in Wakefield, Massachusetts. Ida was the beloved wife of the late Michael Boodakian; whom she was married to for 35 years.
Ida was born in Lawrence on October 14, 1924, the daughter of the late Gabriel and Zebel (Moomjian) Malootian. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Harvard Extension School, and was the Blood Bank hospital administrator for the then named Boston City Hospital. Ida travelled the world to give lectures on the subject of blood bank practices and procedures. She retired from her position as head of the Blood Bank to establish and co-found Infusion Magazine; a successful publication dedicated to the topic of I.V. therapy. Outside of work, Ida was a member of the Winchester Players; an entertainment troupe that produced annual fund-raising productions.
Ida will be deeply missed by her 2 nephews, Bryce Conner of Gibraltar, Michigan, Justin St. James and his wife, Diane, of Andover, and her two stepchildren Paul Boodakian, and Sherry Boodakian. Ida is predeceased by her niece, Debby H. Ury of Westport, Connecticut, and is survived by Debby's husband, Fred Ury.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Ida’s life by gathering for her graveside service, which will occur at 9 AM on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Spring Grove Cemetery, 5 Spring Grove Road in Andover. Guests are kindly asked to meet directly at the cemetery.
