George A. Lannan's Obituary
George A. Lannan, age 95, of Methuen passed away on September 22, 2020 at Lahey Hospital. George was born in Lawrence on January 29, 1925 to the late Henry and Josephine (Somerly) Lannan. He was a graduate of Lawrence High School, Class of 1942, and a graduate of Northeastern University, Class of 1960. George was a proud Korean War era US Army veteran. He was a long-time communicant of St. Monica’s Parish. George enjoyed his family and friends, his home, his fish pond and summers at the beach. He enjoyed watching his beloved New England Patriots, although not quite as much without Tom Brady. He was a charter member of the Lawrence Elks, B.P.O.E. #65, and a member of the Arlington Club. George worked as an electrical engineer at Mass Electric.
George was the beloved husband of Frances (Collins) Lannan for sixty-six brief years. He was the devoted father of Ellen M. Keefe, John J. Lannan, Susan L. Regan and her husband John, Robert M. Lannan and his wife Michelle, Christine T. Picanso and her husband Todd, Daniel J. Lannan and his wife Sally, and of the late Patrick M. Lannan. George was the loving grandfather to many grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by his five brothers Arthur, Henry, Warren, Joseph, and William Lannan.
With appropriate social distancing and the requirement of facial coverings, calling hours will be Sunday, September 27, 2020 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, September 28, 2020 at 11:00 AM at St. Monica Parish, 212 Lawrence Street, Methuen.
