Catherine J. (Salach) Drouin's Obituary
God got a special angel on April 27, 2020. Catherine J. (Salach) Drouin, 69, of Methuen died at the Holy Family Hospital from COVID-19. Cathy worked at Palm Manor Nursing Home in Chelmsford, MA for 20 plus years. Prior to her current job she worked at several other local nursing homes. She volunteered at soup kitchens and took calls at the battered women’s shelter.
Cathy will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, Nena and friend to many. She enjoyed spending weekends riding on the back of their Harley-Davidson to the beach, mountains or anywhere the road took them. She was always the first person to volunteer to help with fund raisers, making baskets to raise money for Grayson’s Fund, Stroke Awareness or MS. If someone needed a ride, a helping hand or just to talk, Cathy always made the time for family and friends.
Cathy made a positive impact on countless people in her life and was loved by so many. Dennis Drouin, her husband of 42 years is heartbroken losing his soulmate and his best friend. She is survived by her beloved sons, Dennis J. (DJ) Drouin of Methuen and William L. and his wife Julie Drouin of Sandown, NH. Cathy will be watching over the light of her life her grandson Colton Drouin.
She is survived by her brother Thaddeus (Ted) and his wife Judy Salach, Manchester, NH; and sisters, Lisa and her husband Barney Carter, Saint Marys, GA, Robin and her husband Jimmy Weir, Methuen, MA and Marie and her husband Doris Levesque, Salem, NH. Auntie Cathy will be greatly missed by her nieces and nephews: Ben, Holly, Katie, Billy, Chris, Bradley, Michelle L., Stacie, Andrew, Jennifer, Krissy, Michelle, Jenny and Angela.
The family would like to give special thanks to Ben Curry one of Cathy’s ICU nurses and her niece Stacie Levesque for helping us navigate through all the challenges of having a loved one quarantined in ICU.
Memorial contributions can be made in her name to the following organizations: American Stroke Association, National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Make a Wish foundation.
A celebration of life will be held for Cathy at a later date. For online guestbook, please visit the funeral home website, www.pollardfuneralhome.com. The Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home is honored to serve the Drouin Family.
