I remember when I was young (like 10 maybe) and Uncle Art and Heidi came to visit my Nana in El Paso. This is how I remember it….
Somehow uncle Art had called the right sub- station and asked for my Dad. My Dad happened to be off that day. However, someone sent a patrol car to pick up Art and Heidi from their hotel and brought them to my Nana’s house. It made quite the impression on Art. I recall my Dad asking,”Have you ever been in a patrol car before?” And Uncle Art exclaiming”No! First time eva!” My Dad asked Art which officer dropped them off so he could thank them. He said, “The Mexican Officer .” Uncle Art’s description wasn’t very precise considering our location and a majority of the department is Hispanic. I’m sure my Dad figured it out.
