Ben Kleschinsky
Bill could be described as one of those rare teachers. He was our 11th grade physics class. Back then we called him Mr. Toomey. One day he decided to take a group of his students up to MIT's Haystack Observatory to introduce us to the world of astronomy and stargazing. He founded and organized astronomy clubs at many of the schools he taught at throughout New England. It was there we were introduced to the Amateur Telescope Makers of Boston which I have now been a member of for the past 15 years.
He really gave everything to his students without expecting anything in return. One of the most passionate educators you could have ever met, and friend and a colleague to many in the Boston science community. I hope he knew how much of an impact he left on many of our lives. I only wish I was able to visit Bill more often. I know he will be missed by many of us.
