William J. Donovan Sr.'s Obituary
William J. Donovan, Sr., 87 a longtime resident of Methuen passed away unexpectedly on Thursday April 18, 2024 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA.
Born and educated in Methuen, MA, he was the son of the late Jerome and Gladys (Wilkerson) Donovan. From 1956 to 1962 William served his country in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged from service. For many years he was employed with New England Telephone until his retirement.
William was deeply devoted to his family. His grandchildren were his biggest joy. He enjoyed traveling, summer vacations at Salisbury beach with the family and trips to Foxwoods.
He will be deeply missed by his six sons, William J. Donovan, Jr., and his wife Cheryl of Vero Beach, FL, Michael T. Donovan and his wife Lynne of Dracut, MA, Timothy J. Donovan and his wife Jayne, Christopher J. Donovan and his wife Tracy, Terrence P. Donovan and his wife Danette and Daniel F. Donovan and his wife Lora all of Methuen, MA. William is also survived by his brother Jerome Donovan and his wife Betty also of Methuen,
William leaves his cherished grandchildren, Ryan, Heather, Jessica, Amanda, Meaghan, Connor, Quinn, Michael, Kaitlyn, Madelyn, Marren, Gabrielle, Patrick, and Makenna. Great-grandchildren, Madison, Rhylan, Liam, and Isla and many nieces and nephews
He was predeceased by his loving wife Maureen of 58 years, his infant daughters Karen and Mary and his grand-daughter Emily. As well as his sisters Irene, Joyce and Mary.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday April 25, 2024 from 4:00p.m. – 7:30p.m. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence Street Methuen, MA. A funeral service will follow sharply at 7:30p.m. in the funeral home.
