William "Bill" Zolubos

William "Bill" Zolubos died peacefully at the Lahey Hospital at the age of 84 on August 18, 2017 from complications of heart disease. Bill was born on November 20, 1932 to Rita (Azarowski) and Paul Zolubos in Dracut, MA. When he was 5 weeks old, his mother passed away in a tragic fire. He was raised by his grandmother until he joined the Army at the age of 16. He was sent to Korea and while in the service, met Pauline and married her in 1955. Bill was a lifelong resident of Methuen. He spent many years at various jobs until he was hired to be a guard at AVCO in Wilmington where he worked until retiring in 1988 after an accident left him unable to perform his duties. Bill will always be remembered by his sense of humor. He made everyone laugh at his jokes and antics. He and Pauline were wonderful dance partners, spending many hours dancing in each other's arms. He adored his granddaughter Dannie and his great-grandsons. He loved his backyard vegetable gardens and was a self taught home remodeler. Bill and Pauline loved to travel going to Europe and especially Aruba where he spent many vacations at La Cabana. They loved going on vacation with Pauline's extended family to the Pennsylvania Dutch country and renting cottages at Salisbury Beach. Bill is survived by his son Dean and daughter in law Rita Zolubos of Hampton, NH, his granddaughter Dannie and her husband Nicholas Monahan of Londonderry, NH as well as two great grandsons Owen and Kieran who were the light of his life. He also leaves one sister Jennie and her husband William Robershefski of Methuen. Bill is preceded in death by his loving wife of 40 years Pauline (Dubois) Zolubos, sons David and Daniel Zolubos and one sister Rita Early. He also leaves many, many nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St, Methuen, MA 01844. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Monica's Parish of Methuen. Burial will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery of Methuen.
