Wanda Siudut Abate's Obituary
Methuen – Wanda (Siudut) Abate, 92 of Methuen, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2020 at Holy Family Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas J. Abate, Sr., an Army Sargent Major who served the US for 28 years.
Born in Lawrence on November 7, 1927, she was a child of the late John and Maryanna (Biernacki) Siudut. Wanda graduated from Lawrence High School and worked as an assembler at LT Industries in Andover until her retirement. She was a lover of classical music, TV shows like Miami Vice, and Walker Texas Ranger. She was also an avid reader. Most of all, Wanda was about family, in both good and bad times. She was a patient mother of 10 children. Each was no more favored than the next. Her life motto was “life is too short, so stay as young as you can.” Children always made her feel young. It was also her belief that if a person works hard and does good deeds, good things will come in return. Wanda was warm, kind, and selfless.
Wanda took great pride in earning the title of “Nana”. As years went on, she became the loving Nana to a total of 28 grandchildren. Furthermore, she progressed to great-grandmother or “moo-moo” and was gifted 43 great grandchildren. She will be remembered for her love of life, incredible strength, whit, charisma, and wisdom. Her stories were the best and she always had a comment for everything.
Wanda is survived and will be deeply missed by her daughters: Karen Abate of Methuen, MA; Paula Gill of Lawrence, MA; Rae Abate of Chelmsford, MA; Cheryl and her husband Jerry Bolduc of Chester, NH; Danielle and her husband Rick DeParis of Methuen, MA; Tracy and her husband Kenny Groulx of Raymond, NH; Kelley (Abate) Nieves of Methuen, MA; and her sons: Thomas J. Abate Jr. of Methuen, MA; Paris Abate and his wife Cecilia of Manchester, NH; Kim Abate and his wife Maerita of Pelham, NH. Wanda is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
All services will be private. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005 or Dana Farber Institute, 5 Branch Street, Methuen, MA 01844.
