Theresa M. Thompson's Obituary
Theresa M. Thompson (Terry to her friends and family) passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at the age of 71. She passed away at the Vero Beach Hospice Home in Florida, after a long battle with
Dementia. Terry was a loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all who knew her. She had a great sense of humor and an honest way of approaching life, which is what her loved ones will miss the most.
She was born April 12, 1952, attended Mt. Carmel School, St Anne’s High School and graduated from Salem State with a degree in Social Science.
She pursued her love for social work and after 35 years she left her mark on geriatric care second to none. Anyone who worked with her can tell you she loved her nursing home patients and staff and worked diligently to make patient care “priority number one.” Meek and kind, she accomplished more than many in her field.
Terry enjoyed hosting family gatherings at her home in Methuen and taking weekend trips with her friends. On summer vacations, she would spend time in the Lakes Region in New Hampshire or venture out to see lighthouses in Maine or Cape Cod.
After moving to Vero Beach, Terry volunteered in several community events, enjoyed meeting new people, and exploring the area. She also tapped into her creative side and learned how to paint nature scenes.
Terry is predeceased by her parents, James and Theresa Cutter of Methuen, survived by her husband of 48 years Steven, her children Steven J. Thompson, James P. Thompson and spouse Stephanie with two grandchildren Julianne and Lucas, and her brothers Kenneth, Frank and
James Cutter, and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Terry’s life by gathering for her calling hours from 4 – 8 PM on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Thursday, July 20, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 115 Wheeler Road, Dracut. Guests are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. There will be no procession from the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Dementia Society of America, P.O. Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901.
