Susan E. Walsh King's Obituary
Susan E. Walsh King, 71 of Methuen, passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen. She was the beloved wife of John King, to whom she was married for 27 years. Born in Methuen on June 21, 1947, she was the daughter of Eugene and Clarinda (Dufton) Walsh.
Susan graduated from Tenney High School, class of 1965. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Bridgewater State College in 1969, and she received her master’s degree in education from the University of Lowell. She worked as a teacher in the Methuen school system until her retirement. Her favorite years were spent teaching first grade at the Oakland Avenue School. Each year the students looked forward to a walking fieldtrip to her home where they enjoyed a cookout and lawn games. Susan was a member of the National Education Association and the Massachusetts Teachers Association. For many years, she was a member of the Methuen Community Chorus. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, gardening, and reading, as well as doing embroidery and crafts. She was also an avid Boston Celtics fan. She was a season ticket holder for many years.
Susan will be deeply missed by her husband, John; her sister, Priscilla Gail Sanguedolce and her husband, Frederick of Methuen; her nephew, Frederick Sanguedolce, Jr. of Methuen; her 2 nieces Cynthia Sanguedolce Messerli of North Las Vegas, NV and Lauren Sanguedolce of Pelham, NH; and several cousins.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Susan’s life by gathering for her calling hours on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 from 9 – 10:30 am at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Her funeral service will take place on Tuesday at 10:30 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.
