Stephen A. Hayes' Obituary
Stephen A. Hayes, 79, of Methuen, passed away suddenly while battling Parkinson’s Disease, on November 18, 2018 at the Mary Immaculate Nursing and Rehabilitative Center. Born in Lawrence on November 5, 1939 to the late Stephen A. and Mary Winifred (Godin) Hayes. He attended Central Catholic High School graduating with the Class of 1957. A lifelong Catholic, Stephen was a communicant at St. Monica’s Church. A proud member of Teamster’s Local 25, he worked for many years until his retirement at Heffron Materials. Stephen was a hard working man, devoted to his family and shared a close relationship with his children. He also adored his grand-daughter and great-grand-daughter (Grampy’s girls). He had a special appreciation for classic cars, and enjoyed his work as an equipment operator. Stephen also enjoyed the beach, road trips, home improvement projects and auto repair.
Predeceased by his beloved wife of 53 years, Elaine B. (Lemelin) Hayes in 2016, Stephen is survived by his two loving children; his daughter, Kimberly A. Hayes-Hackett of Methuen and his son, Keith S. Hayes of Amesbury. He was the cherished grandfather to Stephanie T. Hackett and great-grandfather to Lillian Elaine (Lilly). Stephen is also survived by his dear sister, Maureen R. Hayes of Ellicott City, MD, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation for Stephen will be held on Monday, November 26, 2018 from 4 – 7 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Friends and family are cordially invited to attend. A funeral service for Stephen will be held at the funeral home at the conclusion of calling hours.
