Sr. Mary Alphonse Roy's Obituary
Methuen, Ma. ? Sr. Mary Alphonse Roy, P.M.A. 95 yrs. and a sister of the Presentation of Mary Order died Thursday December 15, 2011 at the Ste. Claire Residence.
Sister was born on January 1, 1916, in Aldenville, Massachusetts, the daughter of Alphonse and Eva (Therrien) Roy.
She entered the Congregation of the Presentation of Mary in August 1941 and pronounced her religious vows on February 2, 1944 in Hudson, NH. After her profession, she served at Stella Maris in Biddeford, Maine for 12 years. After one year at Biddeford Pool, Maine she was assigned 29 years to the Provincial House, newly opened in Methuen, Ma.
Eventually, because of her declining health, she was transferred to Residence Sainte Claire.
Sister Mary Alphonse was predeceased by 5 brothers and 2 sisters. She is survived by her nephew, Norman Muller and two nieces, Lucille and Louise.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. in the Presentation of Mary Chapel with burial to follow in the Presentation of Mary Cemetery both in Methuen.
Friends may call on Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Saint Claire Residence 209 Lawrence Street in Methuen.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen.
