Shirley A. Amore's Obituary
Shirley A. (Simoes) Amore, age 72 of Salisbury and formerly of Methuen passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on May 9, 2020. Shirley was born in Lawrence on November 21, 1947 to the late Caesar and Irene (Sousa) Simoes. She was a graduate of Tenney High School, Class of 1966 and attended Northern Essex. Alongside her husband Joe, Shirley owned and operated All Star Ice Cream Trucks throughout Southern New Hampshire and the Merrimack Valley. Shirley was passionate about sewing, knitting, crocheting, traveling and dancing. She enjoyed creating handmade gifts for everyone. Spending time with her family and grandchildren brought her so much joy. She was a former member of the Methuen VFW and a former communicant of Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Lawrence.
Shirley was the beloved wife of Joe Amore with whom she shared 51 years of marriage. She was the devoted mother of Julie Ann Mele and her husband Pat, Joey Amore, and Gina Amore and her fiancé Charlie Fox. Shirley was the loving grandmother of Sessina, Luca, Hannah, Victoria, Michael, Elijah, Amelia, and the late Noah. She was the dear sister of Ron Simoes and his wife Cathy, Judy Beeley and her husband Paul, and Cheryl Palmer and her husband Richard.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations in Shirley’s memory may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168 Boston, MA 02284.
