Sheila D. (Doyle) Schruender's Obituary
Sheila E. (Doyle) Schruender, 82, a lifelong resident of Methuen, passed away unexpectedly on April 3, 2019, at Holy Family Hospital. She was born on September 29, 1936, to the late Robert G. and Margaret F. (Corbett) Doyle, in Lawrence, MA. She attended Tenney High School and graduated with their first graduating class, the “Class of 1954.” After high school, Sheila attended UMass Amherst and the Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School. She worked for the City of Methuen for decades, first as a clerk in the Water Department and, for many years until her retirement, as the Water Registrar. She was a long-time communicant of St. Monica Parish and, for the past 25 years, a member of Holy Family Parish in Amesbury. Music played an important role in her life; she was an original member of the Valley Singers, sang in the choirs of St. Monica Parish and Holy Family Parish, and enjoyed taking part in many church shows throughout the area. Sheila was the beloved matriarch of her family, hosting many holiday and family events. She loved to play cards, was a devoted Boston Sports Fan, and enjoyed traveling, especially to Ireland.
Sheila will be greatly missed by her four loving children; her daughter, Diane DeGaspe and her husband John of Methuen, her son, Paul Allen and his husband Tobias of Provincetown, her daughter Susan Morin of Derry, NH, and her son Robert Schruender and his wife Elizabeth of Lexington. She was immensely proud of her 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Sheila is also survived by her sister Margaret Doyle and her brother Robert Doyle, both of Methuen. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Henry P. Schruender.
Visitation for Sheila will be held on Monday, April 8, 2019, from 4 – 8 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Friends and family are cordially invited to attend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, 11 AM at Saint Monica Church, 212 Lawrence Street, Methuen.
