Sheila M. Cunningham's Obituary
Sheila Cunningham, age 72 of Methuen, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2021. Sheila was born in Lawrence on July 30, 1948 to the late Edwin T. and Margaret (Casey) Cunningham. Sheila was a graduate of Tenney High School, Class of 1966. She earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Bridgewater State University. During her time as a student at Tenney High School, Sheila excelled academically and athletically. She continued her passion for education by becoming a life-long educator at Methuen High School. She taught English and coached basketball and softball before becoming an assistant principal. Sheila had a successful career teaching and guiding the young people of Methuen for many decades. Upon her retirement, she was inducted into the Methuen High School Hall of Fame. Sheila enjoyed boating, golfing and spending time with her nieces and nephews.
Sheila was the dear sister of Barbara Fleming and her husband Brian, the late Eileen Gilbert, and the late Thomas Cunningham. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews; J.J., Brian, John, Casey, and Erin, and also many great nieces and nephews.
Friends and guests are invited to call on Thursday, January 28, 2021 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St. Methuen. A funeral service will be held immediately following the calling hours, beginning promptly at 12:00 Noon at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery of Lawrence. Due to the current ongoing global pandemic and state regulations, facial coverings must be worn and social distancing must be observed to attend the wake, funeral service and burial.
