Sharon Kolenda's Obituary
Sharon J. (Parker) Kolenda, 76, of Methuen, passed away on Wednesday April 16, 2025 due to complications from a stroke and dementia.
Sharon was born in Lawrence on June 24, 1948 and was the daughter of the late Carl E. Parker and Mary (Slattery) Parker.
Sharon was raised in Lawrence and was a high honors graduate of Lawrence High School, Class of 1965. Sharon met Richard Kolenda at Salisbury Beach and they were married at St. Mary the Assumption Parish in Lawrence on September 2, 1967. Sharon took five years off from work to raise their only child, Richard Kolenda Jr., whereupon she returned to work for the Methuen Public School’s Principal’s Administration. In later years, Sharon, was employed by Bell Labs and Lucent Technologies and also was a contractor for Moore Staffing Services.
Sharon and her husband Richard spent fifty-seven wonderful years of marriage. They enjoyed touring Europe, Pennsylvania Dutch Country and annual trips to Disneyworld. Sharon is the beloved wife of Richard J. Kolenda Sr. of Lawrence. She was the loving mother of Richard J. Kolenda Jr., of Newburyport. She was the cherished grandmother of Sarah Scanlon of Methuen and great-grandmother of Aiden and Ava Scanlon. She was the sister of Mary Rita Simonian of Methuen. She is also survived by her dear friends, Robert A. Cody and Mary Joy Cody and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends and guests are invited to calling hours on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. A funeral service will be on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at 9:00 AM. Burial will take place at Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.
