Ruth Francis (Wells) Woekel's Obituary
Ruth F. (Wells) Woekel, 91, of Pelham, NH, longtime resident of Methuen, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2020 at the High Pointe House in Haverhill. She was born in Lynn on August 16, 1929 to the late Chester and Gladys (Gosse) Wells. Raised and educated in Salem, NH and Lawrence, Ruth graduated from Lawrence High School with the Class of 1947. As the beloved matriarch of her family, she enjoyed spending time with her cherished grandson and friends. She enjoyed the company of her daughter’s friends, especially when they spent time at the house, enjoying the water and sharing a meal. Ruth had a deep love for reading, gardening, and enjoying the peacefulness of being near the water. She worked for many years as the backbone of the family business, she was the office manager for Carl Woekel and Son’s Construction Company. Ruth touched many lives in many circles and will fondly be missed and loved by all.
Ruth is survived by her loving daughter, Karen Jerz and her husband Michael and her grandson Christopher Jerz, all of Methuen. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Janet Milnes, her niece Susan Milnes and her nephew Peter Milnes and his wife Robin. Ruth is also survived by her great nephew’s and niece; Brook Milnes and his wife Nicole and their three children, Andrew Milnes and Meredith DeMay and her husband Brad. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Carl W. Woekel, Jr, with whom she celebrated 53 years of marriage together in 2009.
Visitation for Ruth will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2020 from 10 – 11 AM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Friends and family are cordially invited to attend. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM following calling hours at the Elmwood Cemetery, 110 North Lowell Street, Methuen. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Ruth’s memory to the Nevins Memorial Library, 305 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844. The Kenneth H.
