Ruth B. Lavallee's Obituary
Ruth Berthe (Gallant) Lavallee, 92, went home to JESUS on Thursday March 15th 2018 at Lawrence General Hospital surrounded by her loving family who were holding hands and singing her favorite Christian songs. It was truly a blessing for them all as she crossed over from their presence back into the arms of her husband Rene and her son Moe who were waiting for her along with JESUS with open arms.
Ruth was born April 14th, 1925 in Methuen Mass. She was a proud lifelong resident of Lawrence Mass. She spent her final three months in Mary Immaculate Nursing Center in Lawrence.
She attended St Anne's grammar school and high school in Lawrence where she was a member of the Saint Anne's Crusaders Drum & Bugle Corps color guard. Her husband Rene was the drum major.
She worked for many years at Frank C Meyer Box Company in Lawrence where she also served as Union treasurer until her retirement.
Ruth was so dedicated to her faith and love for JESUS. She taught religious education for 30 years at Sacred Heart Church in Lawrence where she was a parishioner as well as a Eucharistic minister and lector until the church closed. She continued those duties at St Patrick's Church in Lawrence. She was a member of the Ladies Sodality at both Sacred Heart and Saint Patrick's. She lived her Cursillo weekend in March of 2012 at the age of 86 years old at Saint Basil's Center in Methuen. She would regularly attend Monday night liturgy at Saint Basil's with her son Ronnie.
Ruth, was predeceased by her husband Rene J Lavallee, her parents Amand & Aline (Nadeau) Gallant, her sisters Flossie Roy & Lorraine Leone and her brothers Ronald & Clifford Gallant.
Ruth and Rene were devoted to their family first and foremost. She will be deeply missed but also celebrated by her six children, Son Mark Lavallee and his wife Sheila of Haverhill, Ma. son Michael Lavallee and his wife Patricia of Lawrence Mass, her dedicated caretaker and best friend -daughter Maureen (Lavallee) Duda and her husband Steve of Raymond, New Hampshire, son Matthew Lavallee and his partner Kathy Leary of Newburyport Mass, son Rene Lavallee and his wife Laura of Lawrence Mass and son, "her baby" Ronald and his wife Linda of Methuen Mass. Ruth was without a doubt a very holy and caring woman, she would bring communion to the Nevins Retirement Home in Methuen and sit and visit with the residents who had no one else to visit them. She had the amazing qualities of abundant love and compassion that allowed all of those whom she encountered to see the JESUS In Her Eyes and smile.
The family would like to sincerely thank the entire staff at Mary Immaculate Residential and Nursing Center in Lawrence Mass where Mom resided since 2012. They took care of our mother with love and compassion. She just loved being a resident there. We'd also like to thank the doctors nurses and nurses assistants at Lawrence General Hospital who spent time taking care of Ma with kindness and gentleness over the final five days of her life.
