Roland M. Tardugno's Obituary
Roland M. Tardugno, age 94 of Methuen passed away on December 28, 2017. Roland was born in Lawrence on October 16, 1923 to the late Antonio and Teresa (Ruggierio) Tardugno. Roly was the youngest of nine. He had seven brothers and 1 sister. Roland’s father Antonio passed away in 1937 and his mother Teresa passed in 1963. He captained his football team at Lawrence High School and he along with his brothers were later voted into the Lawrence High School Hall of Fame.
Roly joined the Army and served in 5 different campaigns, including the Battle of Normandy during WWII. After leaving the army, he married his beautiful high school sweetheart Clarice Pinto. They were married for 64 years and had 6 children, 5 boys and 1 girl. His family grew even more, welcoming 12 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, many loving daughters in law, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
He worked as a meat cutter his entire career. Roly worked for Swift, Butcher Boy, Meat Land and retired from DeMoulas. He loved playing golf with his buddies at Merrimack Country Club, gardening his hydrangeas and sitting on his swing with a glass of wine waiving to his neighbors as they passed by.
Roly was the most honest man we have ever met and was the simplest man. If the sun was shining, he was very content and happy. We hope you will get the same idea of the man we called DAD!.
