Robert St. Onge's Obituary
Bob (Stongie) was born in Methuen, a lifelong Methuen resident passed away peacefully at home following a long illness, surrounded by his loving family. Bob was the only son of Rene St. Onge and Ida (Muchowski) St. Onge.
As a young man, Bob worked in the paper mill. He was proud to tell us he made the paper for the National Geographic Magazine.
He later became a Methuen Fire Fighter on February 19, 1967 until his retirement on February 1, 1996. Bob was given Fire Fighter of the Year Award in 1983. He also worked at Forster Lumber in Methuen for many years. Bob was a master carpenter, as evidenced by the craftsmanship around the house which he shared with his loving wife “Mal” and family for over 50 years.
Bob enjoyed gardening, every year he would very generously give away many of his vegetables that he also enjoyed himself. He loved to play 45’s with his family, cooking on the grill or in the house was one of his passions. They hosted all of the holidays for the extended family as well as many pool parties. Bob enjoyed his mini getaways to the casinos with his “sweetie” Mal. But most of all, Bob loved to spend at least three months in Florida at Deerfield Beach with “Mal”.
Bob was a gracious and loving husband, dad, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather to too many people to mention here. He was predeceased five months ago by the love of his life of 50 years, Marilyn Cormier St. Onge. He leaves behind sons Keith Cormier of Methuen, Wayne Cormier and his wife Sonia of Epsom, NH, Darryn Cormier and his wife Charlene of Derry, NH, and Jeremy Cormier and his wife Jade of Methuen.
The Family would like to extend their appreciation to Pathway, especially his nurse Jody.
