Robert S. Powell's Obituary
METHUEN ? Robert S. Powell, 82 of Methuen, MA, died Sunday February 26, 2012 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, MA.
Born and educated in Salem, NH, he was the son of Percy and Marion (Steele) Powell. Robert served in the U.S. Navy where he received the Navy Occupational Service Medal, the National Service Defense Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Viet-Nam Campaign Medal and received an honorable discharged. After his service in the military, Robert worked as a boiler technician and retired from Pease Air force Base in Portsmouth , NH,
He loved to fish, both fresh and salt water; Robert enjoyed repairing things, was an avid Red Sox fan, but most enjoyed ballroom dancing with his late wife, Norma, taking day trips and singing.
The widower of Norma J. (Arsenault) Powell; Robert is survived by his two daughters; Deborah J. Powell and Darlene M. Couture and her husband Raymond both of Methuen, MA.
Two sisters and one brother; Ruth Holozubiec of Amesbury, MA, Herbert Powell of Hills, NH and Marion Crawford of Ossipee, NH.
He also leaves his grandchildren; Jacinta Avendano ? Moniz, Melissa Powell, Nichole Couture, Derek Powell and Kaitlyn Couture; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Robert was the father of the late Dale R. Powell and brother to the late Franklin Powell and Ethel Simone.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4:00p.m. ? 8:00p.m. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc., 233 Lawrence Street Methuen, MA 01844. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 11: 00a.m. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish/St. Augustine?s Chapel in Lawrence, MA. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Andover, MA.
