Robert D. Gerardi's Obituary
Robert D. Gerardi, 91, of Methuen, MA , passed away on Thursday , July 11, 2024 at the Salem Haven Nursing Home.
Bob was born in Medford on September 8, 1932. He was a graduate of Medford High School. After High School Bob was drafted into the Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He was deployed to the Rhine Engineering Depot in Kasienlauten, Germany. He received an honourable discharge and continued his education at Northeastern University. He graduated with an Electrical Engineering degree. Bob furthered his education with additional courses and classes at Merrimack College. The day after graduation from Northeastern University, he and his college sweetheart, Marion were married. Bob got a job with Western Electric and moved to North Carolina to start his career and family. After a few years he was transferred to the North Andover branch. Bob and Marion settled in Methuen, MA.
During High School and college Bob had a band that would play at weddings and other events. He loved golf, travel and woodworking. He made a cradle for his grandchildren and various items for Hickory Hill where he worked after retirement. He also worked at Buchika’s Ski Shop after retirement during the winter. Bob was known for his friendly smile and loved by all who knew him. For many years he was a town meeting member in Methuen and very active in the St. Theresa Parish Council, serving on the finance council.
Bob was the beloved husband of Marion Gerardi. He was the loving father of Robert D. Gerardi, Jr. and his wife Kim of Woburn, Linda Hall and her husband Daniel of Hudson, NH, Michael of Bradford, MA and Jeffrey and his wife Erin of Lawrence, MA. He was the cherished grandfather of Alysse, Sarina, Liana, Felicia and Siena Gerardi, Rachel and Jesse Corso, Julie and Brandon Rae, Nathan Hall, and Hannah and Brady Gerardi and one great grandchild, Brody Rae.
A Funeral Mass will be held in Our Lady of Good Counsel-St. Theresa's Parish, 22 Plymouth St., Methuen, MA on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at 11AM. At the family's request, guests are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Interment is at Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen, MA. Arrangement are in the care of the Kenneth Pollard Funeral Home in Methuen, MA.
In lieu of flowers donations in Bob’s name made be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
