Robert P. Cianelli's Obituary
Robert Peter Cianelli, 72, of Methuen, died peacefully at home Thursday morning, September 30, 2021, surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Somerville, September 23, 1949, son of Aldo and Irma Cianelli. Robert was homeschooled by his mother and received supplemental education at Kennedy Memorial Hospital while undergoing multiple childhood surgeries due to cerebral palsy.
Robert took significant pride in his work. He packaged software at Lotus Development Corporation and most notably delivered mail across the New England Medical Center campus. A Somerville native, he independently navigated the Boston area public transportation system to get to work. In 2000, Robert moved to the Merrimack Valley to live with family. Despite the distance, he continued to commute to work.
Robert retired and made many memories over the 10 years with his friends at Nevins Adult Day Health Center in Methuen. He enjoyed doing arts and crafts, socializing with friends and winning Bingo games. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family and friends. Robert enjoyed listening to music, playing video games, swimming and watching television especially classic horror films, westerns and The Three Stooges.
Robert was predeceased by his parents Aldo and Irma Cianelli. He is survived by his brother Arthur Cianelli and wife Deborah of Methuen. Niece Amie Shine and husband Christopher of Methuen. Nephews Aaron Cianelli and wife Katy of Methuen and Jaison Cianelli and wife Vindhya of Bedford, NH. Cousins Paul Cianelli and wife Bonnie of Duxbury, Donna Cianelli of Somerville, Maria Christiano of Norwood, NJ and Joseph Milcetic and wife Dolores of Hollywood, FL. Robert also leaves longtime friend Debbie Power and 6 great nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his celebration of life Tuesday October 5, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, followed by entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden, MA.
