Richard L. Pomerleau's Obituary
Richard L. Pomerleau of Lawrence MA and Sarasota FL passed away on Friday, May 14, 2021 at the age of 80 from a heart attack. Even though a failing heart took him away from this world, His loving heart, great smile and belly laugh left a beacon of light for all that knew him.
Richard was born in Lawrence MA on April 7, 1941 to Raymond and Regina (Paris) Pomerleau. He was the oldest of 3 sons. He attended Lawrence Schools and graduated from Lawrence High in 1959. He met the love of his life, Linda, in Portland ME where he was working for the phone company. They married in 1965 and had their 2 children, Brian and Michelle.
Richard spent most of his professional career at the Phone Company and Hudson News. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Merrimack College in 1988.
He proudly served in the Navy for 6 years and then in the Coast Guard for 19 years until his retirement in 1998.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brother in law Dwight McDevitt., and many cherished aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his wife of almost 56 years, Linda D. Pomerleau, his son Brian Pomerleau and his wife Jennifer Kibbe-Pomerleau and her daughter Giuliana of Chelmsford, his daughter Michelle (Pomerleau) Nelson and her husband Craig of Andover and His 3 grandsons, the lights of his life, Matthew Pomerleau with fiancé Suhad Shahin, Alexander Nelson, and Andrew Nelson. He is also survived by his 2 brothers, David and Russell, his sister in law Donna, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and guests are invited to call on Friday, June 11, 2021 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St. Methuen. A funeral service will be held immediately following calling hours, beginning promptly at 2:00 PM. Following the funeral service, to honor Richard’s proud service to his country, Military Honors will be provided by the United States Coast Guard.
