Richard A. Ord's Obituary
Richard A. Ord, 63, of Methuen, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Lawrence General Hospital, after a brave and inspiring battle with cancer. He was the cherished husband of Denise M. (Farris) Ord, with whom he shared 37 wonderful years of marriage.
Born in Lawrence on March 1, 1961, Rick was the beloved son of the late John Donald and Mary L. (Leonard) Ord. A dedicated electrician, Rick was a supervisor at Interstate Electrical Services in North Billerica, where he worked tirelessly for over 35 years.
Above all, Rick’s greatest joy was his family. Known as “Grampy,” he was an unwavering supporter of his grandsons, never missing a football game and cheering them on with pride. A lifelong New England Patriots fan, Rick loved Sunday game days and celebrating victories with his loved ones. Rick also found joy in life’s simple pleasures—playing Keno and scratching lottery tickets, taking scenic drives to Salisbury and along the coastline, and spending time in his beloved man cave with his neighbors and relatives.
Rick will be deeply missed by all who knew him, especially his wife, Denise; his daughter, Kellie Collier, and her husband, Mark, of Methuen; and his treasured grandsons, Cameron and Jax Collier. He is also survived by his brother, John Dennis Ord of South Lawrence; his sister-in-law, Karen Ord of Methuen; and several nieces and nephews. Rick was predeceased by his two brothers, Kevin John Ord and Barry S. Ord, who now welcome him with open arms.
Family and friends are invited to honor and celebrate Rick’s incredible life at calling hours on Saturday, December 28, 2024, from 9–11 a.m. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Ridgewood Cemetery in North Andover.
