Richard W. Heafey's Obituary
Richard W. Heafey, 80 of Salem, NH, passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at Lawrence General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Janet (Wilson) Heafey.
Born in North Andover on February 9, 1939, he was the son of John and Edna (Gagnon) Heafey. Richard worked as a campus police officer at Merrimack College in North Andover, where he obtained the rank of sergeant and worked for 31 years until his retirement in 2003. He was a member of the Massachusetts Police Association. Richard was an avid Boston sports fan. He enjoyed taking car rides with his wife and spending time with his family.
Richard will be deeply missed by his 2 children, Colleen Heafey of Methuen and Brian Heafey and his wife, Kathy of Derry, NH; his grandchildren, Dillon, PJ, and Ashley; his sister, Edna Heafey of Salisbury; his brother, Joseph Heafey of Methuen; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his 2 sisters, Rita Marsland and Margaret Heafey and his brother John Heafey.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Richard’s life by gathering for his calling hours on Thursday, February 21, 2019 from 4:00- 8:00 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. His funeral service will take place at 12 PM on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.
