Richard L. Garden's Obituary
Lawrence – Richard L. Garden, 82, of Lawrence, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Lawrence General Hospital.
Born in Malden, MA on September 19, 1942, Richard was the cherished son of the late William J. and Anna I. (Purdy) Garden. Throughout his life, Richard's passion for horses was evident; the early part of his career found him spending many years working at various race tracks up and down the east coast. He would work the horses, find joy in the daily routines and the thrill of the races, thus ending that career at Rockingham Park in Salem, NH. His career then included a dedicated 21-year tenure as a night watchman at J&K Jewelry in Rhode Island, from which he retired.
Richard loved nothing more than the excitement of traveling to various race tracks, connecting with the equestrian community, and sharing his stories with friends and family.
He will be profoundly missed by his beloved nephew, Derek Garden, and his wife, Sherry of Haverhill; his niece, Kelly Stevens, and her husband, Craig, of Townsend, MA; his sister-in-law, Theresa C. Garden of Windham, NH and 5 Great Niece’s and Nephews. Richard was predeceased by his brother, Joseph, and his sister, Barbara.
In respect of the family's wishes, all services will be held privately. To send an online condolence, please visit www.pollardfuneralhome.com. The Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen, is honored to serve the Garden family during this time of remembrance.
