Rene L. Poirier's Obituary
Rene L. Poirier, age 89 passed away peacefully at Villa Crest Nursing and Retirement Center on September 7, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Rene was born in Lawrence on August 9, 1927 to the late John and Anna (Goulet) Poirier. He was a retired delivery driver for United Liquors. Rene was a member of the Teamsters Union, Local 49. Along with his late wife Ann, Rene was a member of the St. Theresa?s Rainbow Club. He enjoyed playing cards, making trips to Foxwoods, listening and dancing to the Sound-A-Bouts Polka Band, and spending time at newfound Lake with his family. Rene?s favorite past time was spending time with his grandchildren.
Rene was the beloved husband of the late Ann (Hastings) Hoffman Poirier with whom he shared 46 years of marriage. Rene was the devoted father of Valerie A. Cuddy and her husband Sean of Goffstown, NH, John R. Poirier and his wife Michele of Methuen, Susan M. Starnes and her husband Ryan of Green Cove Springs, FL, Michael W. Hoffman and wife Denise, of Bradford, NH, and James M. Hoffman and wife Angie of Pelham, NH. He was the dear brother of Theresa Gendron of Salem, NH. Rene was the loving grandfather of 17 and the cherished great grandfather of 7. He is predeceased by his grandchildren Brooke Ashley Starnes and Max Rene Poirier.
Friends and guests are invited to call on Sunday, September 11, 2016 from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St. Methuen. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, September 12, 2016 at 9:00 AM at St. Monica?s Parish of Methuen. Interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery of Methuen.
