Raymond F. Belanger's Obituary
Raymond F. Belanger peacefully passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, just two days shy of his 92nd birthday, October 10th. He was born in Lawrence, MA and lived most of his life there until recently moving to Methuen. Raymond was the son of the late Emile and Leda (Matton) Belanger and the last of his loving, French Canadian, siblings totaling nine brothers and sisters.
He was a graduate of St. Anne’s Grammar School, and the first Eagle Scout of St. Anne’s Troop 10. Raymond graduated from Central Catholic High School, class of 1952 and went on to receive his Associates Degree in Engineering at Lowell Tech. He served in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean War.
Raymond had a love for bowling, was an avid tennis player, and the sharpest 45’s player in the Valley. He was employed at Raytheon, Avco, WANG, and Cortron as a mechanical engineer. Also, he loved to plan gatherings with family at Marist College and New Year’s Day.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Juliette, Bernadette, Irene, Rita, Philippe, Emile, Brother Joseph, FMS, and Ernest; and his grandchildren, Rebecca and Joseph St. Cyr.
He leaves behind his cherished wife of 67 years, Cecile (Beauchesne) Belanger; his loving children, Michelle St. Cyr and her husband, Bill, Marc Belanger and his wife, Christine, Nicole Belanger and her fiancé, Daniel Moe, Monique Medeiros and her husband, Warren, and Colette Mencis and her husband, Mitchell; adored grandchildren, Nicholas and his wife, Laura, Holly and her partner, Nathan, Ray and his fiancée, Michelle, Sarah and her partner, Michael, Gracie, twins Evan and Olivia, Rozzie, Zachary, Elise, and Emma; great-grandchildren, Cali, Piper, and a third great- granddaughter, Leah Faye. In addition, he also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen, MA. His funeral mass will be on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel/St. Theresa's Parish, 22 Plymouth Street in Methuen. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Andover, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tufts Medicine Care at Home, 360 Merrimack Street, Lawrence, MA 01843.
