Philip A. Hersey's Obituary
Philip A. Hersey, age 80 of Methuen passed away on August, 26, 2019. Phil was born in Lawrence on July 24, 1939 to the late Hollis and Dorothy (Lydick) Hersey. He proudly served his country for 30 years in the Massachusetts Army National Guard. Phil worked for 25 years as a D.O.D. employee at Ft. Devens. He then owned and operated P.A. Hersey General Contracting of Methuen. Phil was a 32nd degree Mason at the John Hancock A.F. & A.M. Lodge of Methuen. Phil enjoyed traveling with his wife Joyce. They frequently made trips to see friends in Florida. He will be remembered as a hard working person.
Phil was the beloved husband of Joyce (DeFusco) Hersey with whom he shared 52 years of marriage. He was the devoted father of Philip S. Hersey, and the late David Hersey and his surviving spouse Anisa. Phil was the dear brother of the late Marshall Hersey, and the late Hollis Hersey. He was the loving grandfather of Brandon Hersey, Nicholas Hersey, and Brennah Hersey. Phil is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends and guests are invited to call on Thursday, August 29, 2019 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St. Methuen. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 30, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
