Phan Chao's Obituary
Phan Chao, 67, longtime resident of Methuen, passed away on June 27, 2020 at the Carney Hospital in Dorchester. Born in Vietnam on July 10, 1952 to the late Phat and Houn Chao, he immigrated to the United States as a reward for his honorable and faithful service to the US Military during the Vietnam War. He worked for many years as a device assembler for Meditronics until his retirement. Phan was the beloved patriarch of his family who loved many simple pleasures in life; from watching football, especially the San Francisco 49’ers, The San Francisco Giants and preparing meals for his family.
Phan is survived by his dear wife Chhoy Bun of Methuen and his three children; his son Som Bun Chao of Lowell, his daughter Somsodanee Deleon-Guerrero of Pelham, NH, and his Melinda Chao also of Methuen. He was the proud grandfather to Kikianna, McKayla, Melaysha, Maylin, Jayla, Jazmyne and Jordan, and great-grandfather to Kayson. Phan is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Phan will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 from 4 – 8 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Friends and family are cordially invited to attend. To follow state guidelines with COVID-19, all guest are required to wear face masks upon entering the funeral home and social distancing must be maintained.
