Patricia M. (Small) Newell's Obituary
Patricia M. Newell, 91, died peacefully at Brightview Assisted Living in North Andover, MA on Christmas Morning. She was the daughter of late Michael and Margaret (Gavin) Small. She was a graduate of Punchard High School in Andover. Pat began her working career at the telephone company in Scollay Square in Boston. Pat was then employed by Western Electric and was a secretary at Raytheon, retiring after 25 years of service.
Pat was the widow of John W. Newell. They enjoyed many years travelling and golfing in Bermuda, Florida, Puerto Rico as well as many New England locations. In her 80’s she visited Italy, where she was blessed by the Pope and she also visited China, where she climbed the Great Wall. She was a member of Crystal Springs Gold Club in Haverhill and golfed until the young age of 85. She also enjoyed walking in North Andover Common, cross country skiing at Harold Parker and bowling. Pat enjoyed monthly excursions to Foxwoods Casino with her cousin and friends. She also enjoyed working the North Andover Polls at election time.
Patricia leaves behind her children, Beverly and her husband Davor of Northampton, David and his wife Patti of Hyde Park, and John and his wife, Patty of Methuen. She also leaved behind her cherished grandchildren; Jonathan, Thea, and Maya, and a great - granddaughter, Olivia and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The Newell family would like to thank the staff at Brightview Assisted Living and Merrimack Valley Hospice for the wonderfully compassionate care that she received. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Merrimack Valley Hospice.
At the family’s request, services for Pat will be private and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
