Patricia "Pat" Gayle (Medeiros) McDermott's Obituary
Patricia “Pat” Gayle (Medeiros) McDermott, 72, of Methuen, former longtime resident of Arlington, passed away after a brief illness at Lawrence General Hospital on April 20, 2019. Born on August 30, 1946 to the late Joseph E. and Thelma I. (Ford) Medeiros in Boston, she attended Arlington High School graduating with the “Class of 1964”. After high school, Patricia pursued her secondary education from Middlesex Community College and obtained certification as a phlebotomist. She worked for many years as a lab technician for Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
A woman who was known to be very selfless, Pat was the beloved matriarch of her family who enjoyed spending countless hours with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Always working to support her family, she loved gardening, quilting and doing crafts. In her early years Pat loved to dance. She touched many lives in many different circles and will fondly be loved, cherished and missed by all.
Pat is survived by her three sons; Scott McDermott and his wife Jennifer of Montana, David McDermott of Kansas and Dennis McDermott of Methuen. She was the cherished grandmother to her five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Pat is also survived by her two sisters; Linda Medeiros of Methuen and Carol Peterson and her husband Scott of Rindge, NH. She is also survived by three nieces, seven great-nieces and great-nephews and two great-great nieces. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Ginger Medeiros, her brother John Medeiros and her daughter-in-law Stacy McDermott.
A graveside funeral service for Pat will be held on Friday, April 26, 2019 at 10 AM at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, 70 Medford St, Arlington, MA.
