Norman F. Menzies' Obituary
Norman F. Menzies, 76 of Haverhill, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2023 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen. He was the beloved husband of Patricia A. (Dempsey) Menzies, to whom he was married for 48 years.
Norman was born in Lawrence, MA on June 24, 1947. He was the son of the late Norman F. and Helen E. (Carr) Menzies. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, during which he was deployed to the Korean DMZ.
Norman received his associate’s degree from Northern Essex Community College and then attended the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. He worked as a school teacher at St. Monica School in Methuen, where he taught 7th and 8th grade English, until his retirement. He then taught a GED preparation course at the YWCA in Haverhill. Norman loved teaching and spending time with his family.
Norman will be deeply missed by his wife, Patricia; his 2 children, Sarah E. Menzies of North Andover, MA and David T. Menzies of Haverhill, MA; 2 grandchildren, Greyson F. Menzies and Emmet P. Menzies; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his 3 brothers, Thomas R. Menzies, R. Bruce Menzies, and James C. Menzies.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Norman’s life by gathering for his calling hours from 1 – 5 PM on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Monday at St. Monica Church, 212 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Burial will follow at St. Mary-Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Methuen.
