Nancy M. Steed's Obituary
Lawrence – Nancy M. (Powers) Steed, 80 of Lawrence, died Sunday, August 30, 2020 at Mary Immaculate Nursing & Restorative Center in Lawrence. She was the beloved wife of the late Louis Hicks Steed.
Born in Medford, MA on November 1, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Patrick J. and Margaret E. (Ronayne) Powers. She graduated from St. Clement High School in Somerville, MA and worked as a certified nursing assistant at Woburn Nursing Center for over 25 years, until her retirement in 2001. Nancy was a communicant at St. Monica’s parish in Methuen, where she was very active in various organizations, including CCD. In her free time, Nancy enjoyed reading, as well as taking walks and trips to the beach. She also enjoyed road trips. She and her sister would often go wherever the car brought them, with no destination in mind. They would often lose track of time during their trips.
Nancy will be deeply missed by her 8 children, Louis Steed and his wife, Diane of Raymond, NH, Mary Donnelly and her husband, Thomas of Londonderry, NH, Ann Pellerin and her husband, Brian of Derry, NH, Joseph Steed and his wife, Denise of Georgetown, MA, William Steed and his wife, Mary of Raymond, NH, Karen Licata and her husband, Bernie of Sandown, NH, John Steed and his fiancé, Kathy McCabe of Methuen, and Patrick Steed of Sandown, NH; 18 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; her sister, Marie Dooley of Norwood, MA, her cousin, Kaye Drohan and her husband, Thomas of Hingham, MA; and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother, Thomas Powers.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Nancy’s life by gathering for her calling hours on Friday, September 4, 2020 from 4 – 8 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be private. Due to COVID-19 guidelines, face masks will be required at the funeral home, and social distancing must be followed. If you have a health or other underlying concern, please do not attend. Nancy’s family will understand and respect your decision.
