Muriel O'Connell Gaffney's Obituary
Muriel (Binette) O’Connell Gaffney, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2022. Muriel was born in Manchester, NH on June 2, 1931 to the late William and Marie (Labrecque) Binette. Muriel enjoyed spending time with her family and took bragging rights to a new level when it came to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her life brought her many challenges. She was resilient and had many joyous occasions to celebrate, especially at her 90th birthday party.
Muriel was predeceased by her first husband Daniel O’Connell, and her second husband Patrick Gaffney. She was also predeceased by her brothers Leonard Binette, Roland Binette, William Binette, Bertrand Binette, Lionel Binette, and Joseph Binette, and her sisters Simone Bernier, and Lorraine Rano.
Muriel was the devoted mother of Daniel O’Connell, Paula Torrisi, Cynthia Phelan and her husband James, and Deborah O’Connell. She was the loving grandmother of Courtney Williams and her husband John, Amanda Schmidt and her husband Robert “RC”, Christopher “CJ” Phelan and his wife Jennifer, Ashley Harry and her husband Matthew, Ross Androchuk and his fiancé Taylor Albertini, Kylie Fowler and her husband Michael, and Brittany Androchuk. Muriel was the cherished great grandmother of Evan Williams, Riley Williams, Gavin Harry, Emerson Harry and Zayden Defender. She was looking forward to her sixth great-grandchild’s arrival, baby girl Fowler, in May. She also leaves her step-daughter, Eileen Cosentino and her family of Greenwich, Connecticut as well as several nieces and nephews along with her “golden girl” friends.
Muriel’s family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at Nevins Nursing & Rehab Center where she spent the last weeks of her life and to the staff at Marguerite House Assisted Living, in particular Rosa, who took such good care of her on a daily basis.
Friends and guests are invited to call on Monday, January 17, 2022 from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St. Methuen. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place following calling hours, beginning promptly at 11:00 AM at St. Monica’s Parish of Methuen. Interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery of Methuen.
