Miriam Kochakian's Obituary
Miriam “Mary” Kochakian, 94, of Plymouth, MA formerly of Methuen, passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2021 at the Stafford Hill Assisted Living in Plymouth.
Born in Madison, Maine on July 8, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Moushegh and Arshalous (Garoian) Kochakian. She graduated from Madison High School and from the University of Maine. She worked as an English teacher in high schools in both Maine and Massachusetts.
Miriam was a member of the Lawrence Monthly Meeting of Friends and also an attendant at the Ararat Armenian Congregational Church in Salem, NH. In her free time, she enjoyed participating in the activities at Stafford Hill and spending time with her great-great-niece, Ava. Mary immensely enjoyed Ava’s visits and Ava enjoyed visiting her “Auntie Mary” just as much. They created a special bond between the two of them. Mary loved most especially when Ava would come and dance at the family parties.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Queenie (Kochakian) Madden and Victoria Kochakian; and her nephew, Robert Madden.
She will be deeply missed by nephew, Kenneth Madden of Braintree; and her niece, Eileen Baldwin of Plymouth.
Per the family’s request, funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Ararat Armenian Congregational Church, 2 Salem Street, Salem, NH 03079.
