SFC Michael Saffie Jr.'s Obituary
SFC Michael Saffie Jr. age 90 of Salem, NH passed away on April 8, 2020. Michael was born in Lawrence on March 24, 1930 to the late Michael and Frieda (Saba) Saffie Sr. Upon graduation from Lawrence High School, Michael worked at the Woodmill in Lawrence. Shortly after in 1951, Michael joined the United States Army where he proudly served his country for 20 years retiring in 1971 having served in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He was a parishioner of St. Patrick’s Parish of Lawrence and a former member of the Moving On Group in Methuen. Michael enjoyed golfing, trips to Foxwoods and being surrounded by his family.
Michael was the beloved husband of the late Pierrette (Garand) Saffie with whom he shared 50 years of marriage. He was pre-deceased by his brother Abraham Saffie, his sister Marcia Garand, and a great-granddaughter Hannah. Michael is survived by his children Dennis Saffie and wife Doreen, Frieda Quarterone and her husband Paul, and Michael Saffie III, and his wife Grace, grandchildren; Dennis Saffie Jr., Anne Saffie, and Sarah Millar, great-grandchildren; Julia, Anthony, and Michael, and his brother Albert Saffie and his wife Mildred. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Michael’s memory may be made to Boston Children’s Hospital, 402 Park Dr. Suite 602 Boston, MA 02215 or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl.
