Melanee L. Naroian's Obituary
Melanee Louise (Mooradian) Naroian, 80, a beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and friend, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2023, surrounded by family. Melanee was born in Stoneham, MA on March 1, 1943, to the late Louise and Charles Mooradian.
She attended Stoneham schools until her graduation in 1960. Melanee cherished all relationships she had and was literally the heart and soul of everything she touched. She lived a life defined by kindness, grace, and most of all humor. Her favorite saying was “don’t be afraid to make a fool of yourself”.
Melanee’s legacy lives on through her son, Attorney John A. Naroian and his wife, Stephanie (Hosterman) Naroian of Methuen, MA; her brother, Aram Mooradian and his wife, Robyn (Costa) Mooradian of Stoneham, MA; and the lights of her life, her cherished grandchildren, Madison and Jake Naroian, both of Methuen, MA, who brought immense joy to her life. She is also survived by sister-in-laws, Eva Naroian and Eleanor (Naroian) Avedisian, both of Methuen, MA; and brother-in-law, Michael Naroian and his wife, Sona of Methuen, MA; and John and Charlotte (Mooradian) Mosto of Salem, NH. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
As a teenager, she joined the ACYOA at the Holy Cross Armenian Apostolic Church in Lawrence, MA. There she met the love her life, Kachadoor “Archie” Naroian. After dating for a short time, they announced their engagement and were married in Salem, NH, in December 1963. They lived in Stoneham, MA until their son, John was born and then moved to Lawrence, MA where she resided until her death.
Melanee was devoted to her church and a faithful parishioner until the end. She served as a Sunday school teacher for many years, was a longtime member of the Women’s Guild at Holy Cross and later the Armenian Apostolic Church at Hye Pointe, serving as chair for many years. She will be fondly remembered for her rice pilaf served at many church bazaars and food festivals.
If Melanee wasn’t at the church, she was attending one of the many sporting events her grandchildren participated in. She was a staple sitting on the bleachers at all her granddaughter Madison’s gymnastic meets and her grandson Jake’s hockey games. She became part of those families and will be missed dearly.
Melanee was preceded in death by her loving spouse of 45 years, Attorney Kachadoor “Archie” Naroian. Archie and Mel, as they were affectionately known, were inseparable. They did everything together, even working in the same building so they could commute to and from work together daily.
For years, Melanee worked at Valley Dental Care in Methuen as the office manager. Her vibrant personality and contagious smile gave comfort to those patients arriving at their appointments. She knew all patients by name and always asked how they or their family was doing and genuinely meant it. Previous employment included Nazarian Jewelers in Andover, MA and as a general’s secretary at Hanscom Air Force Base.
As we say goodbye to our beloved Mamie, many will remember her as a gentle, beautiful soul, with an infectious smile and signature laugh, who made you feel like family the moment you met her. She will leave an indelible mark on all who knew and loved her. Rest in peace, Melanee. You will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
