Mary Ellen Allain's Obituary
Mary Ellen “Mar” (Paine) Allain, 63 of Salem, NH, passed away on Friday, September 22, 2023 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen. She was the beloved wife of Peter P. Allain, to whom she was married for 40 years.
Mar was born in Methuen on March 13, 1960. She was the daughter of the late Walter J. and Claire M. (Johnson) Paine. She graduated from the Greater Lawrence Technical School in Andover, class of 1978. She worked as an inspector at Raytheon Co. in Andover and also worked part time as a hostess at Friendly Red’s Tavern in Windham, NH. She was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers IBEW Local 1505. Mar loved music and also loved hosting parties, especially during the holidays and other happy occasions. She enjoyed singing and dancing and was very proud of her Irish heritage. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Mar will be deeply missed by her 3 children, Danielle L. Proctor and her husband, James, of Goffstown, NH, Amy L. Allain of Salem, NH, and Peter B. Allain and his wife, Megan of Uxbridge, MA; her step-daughter, Lindsay T. Allain and her husband, Ryan Jones of Ridgefield, CT; 6 siblings, Kenneth Paine of Methuen, Kathaleen Lavoie of Hampton, NH, Susan Sciuto and her husband, Steve of Londonderry, NH, Diane Vitale and her husband, Leon of Hudson, NH, Thomas Paine and his wife, Christine of Concord, NH, and Nancy Paine of Newton, NH; 4 grandchildren, Brayden, Kira, Bryan, Aubrie, 1 soon to be expected grandson, Connor; her father-in-law, Thomas Allain and his wife, Bernadette of Methuen; and many nieces and nephews, whom she adored. In addition to her parents, Mar is predeceased by 2 brothers, Arthur and James Paine, her brothers-in-law, Eli Lavoie and Bruce Allain, and her mother-in-law, Patricia (Mannion) Allain.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Mary Ellen’s life by gathering for her calling hours from 4 – 8 PM on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Her funeral service and burial will be private.
