Mary Ann Andrews' Obituary
Mary Ann Andrews, 79, passed away on September 11, 2020 at High Point Hospice House in Haverhill. She had spent the previous six weeks at Brigham and Women’s hospital in Boston battling leukemia.
Mary Ann was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts on March 19, 1941. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Carlon) Flathers. She was raised and educated in Lawrence, Massachusetts.
Mary Ann’s passion was spending time at her summer camp in the lakes region of NH, and traveling, especially to Las Vegas and cruises with her dear husband Walter. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren Kyle Andrews, Jordyn, Joseph Jr (JJ), and Jeremy Waible. Mary Ann retired from the Lawrence School Department in 2002.
Mary Ann was devoted to St Monica Church in Methuen and volunteered many of her hours there. This included School Guild Officer, Parish Council Secretary, 19 years as a Religious Education teacher, helped initiate Marriage preparation program, and with her husband Walter were a presenting team for Marriage Encounter weekends.
Mary Ann is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Walter Andrews, her son Scott Andrews, son Stephen Andrews, and her daughter Seleina and her husband Joseph Waible. She was predeceased by her sister, Carol Nolin.
The family would like to thank Dr. Erik S. Weiner and Dr. Laura Caprario from Dana Farber Cancer Care Center. We would also like to thank the staff at Brigham and Women’s hospital. Floor 7B, and High Point Hospice House. Thank you to special friends Roger and Sharon, and Bill and Jane.
Friends and guests are invited to call on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St. Methuen. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at 11:00 AM at St. Monica’s Parish, 212 Lawrence St. Methuen. The Family has requested those attending the funeral mass to report directly to church. Due to the current global pandemic, facial coverings are required to attend both the calling hours and funeral mass. Interment will be private. A gathering to celebrate Mary Ann’s life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168 Boston, MA 02284.
