Martha was an amazing person. She cared deeply for her friends and community. I met martha back in the early 1990's. Methuen was my hometown. I had recently moved back and became involved in my passion; history. At the time, the Nevins Home was slated for demolition. Many of us, the unsung heroes, worked to prevent that. As a result, it was saved, though as usual the politicians claimed credit. Moving forward Martha came up with idea, why not celebrate Methuen's History. In particular, its' Victorian era history. Hence, with a group of a few of us, leaded by her, we organized, resulting in Methuen's Victorian Outing, a free community event, which successfully lasted for many years. Without Martha and her leadership, this event would never have happened. Martha cared deeply for her adopted home town of Methuen. I will miss her deeply. Many years ago she and I would bake her polish sweet bread, the recipe from her mother and probably from previous generations. Every easter since, my family insists, it would not be Easter without this bread. Every Easter, I bake that bread and think of Martha and her mother. I think, that is the greatest tribute of all. Rest in peace Martha and God grant you eternal life!
