Marie Claire (LaPlante) Cooper MacInnis' Obituary
Marie Claire MacInnis of Londonderry, NH, wife of Kendall MacInnis of fifteen years, passed away on June 23, 2019 after a brief illness. Peacefully with the comfort of her loved ones by her side, Claire went into God's arms. She was predeceased by her husband Gerald Cooper in May 1990.
Born in Lawrence, MA June 11, 1935 Claire was the daughter of Lucien and Alfreda (Duhaime) LaPlante.
She attended St Anne Grammar School and later helped organize a sixty-year reunion. She graduated from Lawrence High School, worked at SS Kresge, the I.R.S. then joined the Waves Navy Reserves. There she met on a blind date Jerry. Claire and Jerry (Sonny) were married in 1957 for thirty-three loving years, proudly raising four children in Salem, NH. Henry Street was a friendly family neighborhood where cherished memories were made. Even today the neighborhood children talk of good times.
For many years, Claire enjoyed her work at Malden Mills as a Computer Operator and made life long friendships. No matter where Claire lived her home has always been a focal point for gatherings. Her family ties ran strong and deep. This love for family stems from her mother and father. Every week family and friends gathered at their cottage at Salisbury Beach to play pokeno, 45's and swim in the ocean. Here family bonding was easy and fun. It was very easy to love Claire because she gave so much love.
She was sunshine when she walked into a room with big smiles and offerings of hugs and kisses.
Claire enjoyed the Moving on Group and this is where she met her love and husband Ken. The two families blended very well getting together for holidays and cookouts as often as they could. Claire loved her stepchildren and grandchild like her own and they loved her deeply as well. Claire and Ken moved to Londonderry they found new friends in their neighborhood community that have become dear to their hearts.
Claire loved to get out of the house. She influenced Ken to travel and they enjoyed several trips. In May, they went to California to see her daughter Gail’s son Alex graduate from college. Claire looked forward to playing cards with a special group of lady friends and weekly enjoyed time with her bingo buddies at the Salem Senior Center.
There is an enduring love and special bond between Claire and her sister, Janet. Such devotion and love that most of us can only wish for in our lives. They talked daily on the phone about their soaps and often Claire, Ken, Janet and husband Armand went for dinner, shows, and ended up playing cards back at the house.
Claire has touched many in her 84 years. We dearly love her, and she will forever remain in our hearts.
She leaves her husband Kendall MacInnis, sister Janet and husband Armand DesRoche. Her brother the late Lucien (Mac) and wife Theresa LaPlante of Derry NH, her brother the late Robert and wife Rita LaPlante, daughter Gail Cooper of San Pedro CA, son Gary Cooper of Atkinson, son Brian Cooper of Jacksonville Fl, daughter Brenda Godin and her husband Mark of Pelham NH, daughter in law Brenda Cooper of Manchester NH.
