Maria J. Dedeus' Obituary
Maria J. (Ponte) Dedeus, age 94 of Methuen passed away peacefully on September 9, 2021 at Penacook Place. Maria was born in the Azores, Portugal on August 19, 1927 to the late James and Maria Ponte. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Dedeus who passed away when Maria was 33 years old. Maria took great pride in raising her five children as a single mother. She lived a very simple life. Maria was a long time communicant of St. Monica’s Parish. She enjoyed attending many different Portuguese festivals.
Maria was the devoted mother of James M. Dedeus, Joseph M. Dedeus, John L. Dedeus and his wife Kathleen, Manuel J. Dedeus and the late Hilbert Dedeus. She was the dear sister of James Ponte and his wife Ana. Maria is also survived by 10 Grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will held on Monday, September 13, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Monica’s Parish, 212 Lawrence St. Methuen. Interment to follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery of Lawrence. The Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home is honored to serve the Dedeus Family.
