Marguerite T. Petrillo's Obituary
Methuen – Marguerite T. (Fitzpatrick) Petrillo, 93 of Methuen, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2020 at Hannah Duston Healthcare Center in Haverhill. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas John Petrillo with whom she shared 65 years of marriage.
Born in Brockton on August 2, 1926 and raised in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late John and Marguerite (Fountain) Fitzpatrick. Marguerite was a great homemaker and mother. She was active in her children’s schools, and instilled in them, a strong faith. There was never a day that they did not come home from school to warm homemade cookies, and every occasion, she made special. When her children were older, she worked seasonal, until her retirement, at the IRS in Andover where she made many long-time friends. Proud of her Irish heritage, Marguerite was a member of the Ladies Ancient Order Hibernians. She loved to read, play cards and Scrabble, enjoyed baseball and was an avid fan of the Boston College Eagles and the New England Patriots. Along with her husband, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Very involved in their lives, she attended their sporting events, and sewed and knitted clothes for them. Marguerite, and her husband, especially enjoyed having the entire family for Holiday and Sunday dinners. She took pleasure in cooking and baking and was especially known for her ravioli and chocolate chip cookies.
Devoted to her family and friends, she was “Gram” to her family, and “Peggy” to her friends. She taught life lessons to three generations, encouraged them, made each one feel special, and simply loved them with all her heart. For these reasons she will remain in their hearts forever.
Marguerite will be deeply missed by her son, Kevin Petrillo and his companion, Linda Aubin, of Haverhill and his children, Kevin R. Petrillo, Lisa Desrochers, Melissa Pucci and her husband David; 3 daughters, Carol Calderone of Londonderry, NH, and her children, Michael Calderone and his wife Renata, Kimberly Ouellette and her husband Ryan; Susan LaFlamme of Bethel, VT, and her children, William LaFlamme and his wife Amanda, Meghan Petruzzi and her husband David, Brandon LaFlamme and his wife Sarah, Katelyn LaFlamme and her fiancée Justin Burns; and Kathleen Petrillo of Exeter, NH, and her sons Nicholas Gray, Luke Gray and Samuel Gray; 20 great grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, Jeanette Fitzpatrick of Haverhill and Katherine Fitzpatrick of Plaistow, NH; and many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her sister, Mary Kennedy and her 4 brothers, Joseph, John, Edmund, and James Fitzpatrick.
Marguerite’s children would like to thank the staff of Hannah Duston Healthcare Center for their tender loving care of their mother, particularly in her final days when the Covid-19 restrictions prohibited the family from being with her.
