Marguerite D. Perrault's Obituary
Marguerite D. (Hester) Perrault passed away peacefully on August 10, 2018, of complications from Alzheimer ’s disease. For 59 years, she was the beloved wife of the late Albert F. Perrault, Jr. She leaves her son Atty. Charles Perrault, and his wife, Beth Anastopoulos, and her daughter Jane, and Jane’s husband, David Sigillo, all of Methuen; and dear granddaughters Sarah Perrault of Methuen, and Emily Perrault of New York City. She is also survived by her sister Mary (Hester) David, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Dr. Thomas S. Perrault and Sandra (Giles) Perrault, all of Methuen, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Eileen (Hester) Carpenter, and her brother William Hester, as well as her sister-in-law Barbara (Perrault) Huard, and brothers-in-law Edward G. Perrault, Alfred Huard, Ivon (John) Carpenter, and Albert David.
Marguerite was a lifelong resident of Lawrence. She was the fourth child of William Hester, and Ellen (Murphy) Hester, who emigrated from Ireland. Her parents worked in the woolen mills of Lawrence. They raised their family in the tenements of Lawrence during times when Marguerite’s ethnically diverse neighbors were close and shared such common ideals as hard work, mutual respect, and love of family. Over the years she and her sisters often spoke fondly of their upbringing. “We were poor, but we didn’t know it. And we were happy.”
Marguerite attended St. Mary’s Grammar School and graduated from St. Mary’s High School. She worked at the Arlington Trust Company after graduating from high school and until starting her family; nineteen years later and she returned to work at Shawmut Bank, formerly Arlington Trust Company until her retirement. She was proud to return to school later in life, attending Northern Essex Community College and excelling in each of the courses she took.
She married her cherished husband, Albert, in 1957, and together they built a life centered around family and love. They truly were soulmates and best friends, as many who knew them will attest.
Nothing brought Marguerite more joy than being with her family, of which she was fiercely proud and protective. Beautiful times were spent together on holidays, birthdays, and many other special occasions-memories her children now cherish.
The family of Marguerite wishes to extend its heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the staff at Mary Immaculate Nursing and Restorative Center’s Memory Care Unit, for its steadfast care, kindness and patience in caring for Marguerite.
